Making Veterans Day Real
If you've never served in the armed forces, or don't know anyone who has, the concept of Veterans Day can seem fuzzy. Especially if you've lived in the United States your whole life and have never experienced the horrors of war on our land, the meaning of Veterans Day can be hard to fathom. I think we all could benefit from a deeper appreciation of the sacrifice veterans of American wars have made.If this resonates with you, I have a solution. Two words: Ken Burns. Ken Burns makes documentaries, and two of them, The Civil War, and The War, (about World War II) opened my eyes as to the depth, the gravity, the enormity of the sacrifices so many men and women made to keep our country intact and free. I highly recommend both. The War is on Netflix. A seven-part series, it's worth every second to watch and will change how you view veterans for the rest of your life. This Veterans Day, may God bless all of our veterans. And may God continue to bless America.
